Re-Registration Appointment

Under certain circumstances it may be possible to add to the information recorded at the time of the original registration.

If baby's birth is registered without showing the father's details, it is possible to add this information at a later date by re-registering the birth.

If baby's natural parents marry, or form a civil partnership with each other, after the birth has been registered, the birth should be re-registered to show the updated information.

For more information on re-registration please visit gov.uk where you can download an application form. Please return completed and signed application forms to Dudley Register Office, Priory Hall, Priory Park, Dudley DY1 4EU with the supporting documentation (birth certificate and your marriage certificate if required, possibly change of name documents as well depending on the circunstance.) Please allow two weeks for your application to be processed before your appointment.

If you were married abroad the application must be sent to the General Register Office with original documents (including a translation of the marriage certificate), however if you wish we can copy and certify the documents and send them on your behalf so that you can retain your original documents. You will be invited to attend to re-register the birth(s) locally once the application has been cleared by the General Register Office. Do not book an appointment until we have contacted you.
