Preliminary Questions

This booking process is for civil partnership formations. If you are getting married please go back and select notice of marriage appointment booking.

Coronavirus

Do not book a notice appointment if you or anyone in your household has Covid-19 symptoms (cough, temperature, loss of taste or smell), or if you are self-isolating and still will be at the time of your appointment. For everyone's safety please only make a notice appointment if your civil partnership is taking place within the next three months. Whilst we have put measures in place to mitigate the risk of transfer of infection, it is best to avoid contact and defer the appointment to a later date where possible. The latest time notice can be given is 28 clear days before the civil partnership.

Whilst we are able to take a notice of civil partnership please be aware that government restrictions are in place for civil partnership formations. If you give notice now and your venue or date subsequently changes and fresh noitces are required, the statutory notice fee will be payable again.

Terms and Conditions

By continuing and making an appointment for a notice of civil partnership you are confirming that you:

  • have read the guidance on our website
  • are both British or EEA citizens
  • are both legally free to form a civil partnership
  • are both over 18 years old (or have parental consent)
  • both have all the required documentation and can meet the residency requirements
  • have made a civil partnership booking with the relevant registration office and venue
  • you have a credit or debit card to make the notice payment at the end of this process
  • agree to our terms and conditions

A notice is a legal statement that must be given individually by each of you. It should be done as soon as possible and must be given no later than 28 clear days before that day you plan to form a civil partnership

If you arrive for a notice appointment and do not have the required documentation, or do not meet the residency or other requirements, then the notice appointment will not be able to go ahead.  A further appointment will need to be made and the fees will need to be paid again.

Notice of civil partnership can be given up to twelve months ahead of the formation. Demand for appointments can be high so we advise you book your notice appointment as soon as possible. Your formation cannot be confirmed until notice has been given and the schedule issued after the notices have been displayed publicly for 28 days.

Notices are venue specific and only valid for 12 months so please ensure you do not make an appointment more than 12 months ahead of your formation date.
